[ Maybe the garlands are instinctively afraid of Sir Slice-a-lot... but then again, they caught his senior without any hesitation. Someone really needs a luck check here.
Also if he makes a garland-ribbon-yarn themed ensemble, at least someone can proudly wear the remains of his longtime enemies, if that recognition of what Yanagi's talking about is anything to go by. ]
"Best of Retrospec 2017"?
[ He's kidding, mostly. But as it's a very spontaneous app, just having function where it would randomly find you a good post doesn't seem all that farfetched. Or you can believe Yanagi hit the Way Back button as far as he could. ]
I can't believe carrying a sword around is this useful. I thought you were being a little crazy back then, but as crazy as everything at the time, really.
—Ugh, that guy isn't even here anymore and he's still haunting me!
[DAMN YOU, YURIO... Making him live in embarrassing infamy like that for the rest of his Retrospec days. He hopes he never gets booted off the network if only because then he'll have no idea what people are talking about when they ask him if he's the stupid peacock.]
And I guess I can't blame you for that. I mean, any normal person would think it's prooobably more than just a little crazy. It really does come in handy way more than it should, though.
[As he picks bits and pieces of garland off of his person and deposits them gently on the ground in front of their brethren. Hopefully they won't move when sliced into bits, that'd be even creepier.]

Former Retrospec guy?
[ Yagen probably would know if tried to look up the yarn menace's activity or something like that, but he may been distracted.
Yanagi realizes he should do the same with the discarded garland bits stuck to him. He has to set aside the sword of course. he's nuts but not that nuts to wave around and cut himself ]
Hey... yours is pretty long, doesn't it get a little unwieldy? A tantou is easy to hide, but that's a full-out katana...
[If only he could have held on to that appearance of coolness... IF ONLY. But alas, his true nerdass nature is always revealed so soon.]
Yeah, former by like a couple months. The guy actually moved out of the city, too.
[Which he frankly isn't even sure if that's a thing people can do anymore, even if he also is cursed with that general Retrospec feeling of still not wanting to leave the city...
As for the question, he gestures to his kendo bag after plucking off a few more pieces of festive greenery.]
It's a little weird to carry it around, yeah, but most people don't ask questions since I keep it in this. Usually, anyway. [Exception: when things are Really Dangerous and he needs the ability to draw quickly.] They just assume I'm taking one of the classes at the dojo or something. It'd be waaay easier to hide it if it were shorter, though.
